- Photograph the data plate (model and serial)
- Ask when the problem started and what it does
- Note error codes on the display
Diagnose
- Check power, water supply and drain as applicable
- Run the diagnostic or service mode
- Test the suspect component
- Check for recalls and service bulletins on the model
Close out
- Quote the repair with the part and labor
- Order the part and record the part number
- Schedule the return visit
- Collect the diagnostic fee if the repair is declined
