Step 1: Your tags
Open Settings → 🏷 Job Tags. Every company starts with four ★ favorites: Service Call, Replacement, Commercial and Residential. Add your own (for example New construction or Home warranty company), rename them, pick a color, move them up or down, star the ones you use most, or turn one off. Turned-off tags stay on old jobs but can’t be picked.
Step 2: Tag a job
Favorites show as one-tap chips on the New Job form, in the dispatch drawer (click any job, including Late ones) and at the top of the job page. Tap a chip to add or remove it; it saves right away. + More tags searches the rest, and you can create a new tag from the search box. ✏️ Edit tags opens your tag list in a pop-up without leaving the job.
Step 3: Service Call and Replacement
Service Call is the same thing as the job’s kind: ticked means a service call, not ticked means a Job / Project. Replacement also makes the job a Project. Warranty, callback, emergency and maintenance already have their own flags on every job, so they aren’t tags.
Maintenance jobs stay maintenance. Tune-ups, PM visits and service-plan visits show 🧰 Maintenance. Service Call is greyed out on them, and adding or removing tags never changes them. Only ticking Replacement can turn one into a Job / Project, and it asks you first. On any job, unticking Service Call asks before it makes the job a Project, so a repair or inspection is never changed by accident.
Step 4: Suggestions
Pick a customer on a new job and Commercial or Residential is ticked for you from the customer’s type. On a job that came from a proposal with equipment, Replacement shows as a suggestion. Untick anything that doesn’t fit.
Step 5: Filter and compare
Job cards on Dispatch show up to two tags. Use 🏷 Any tag next to the filter chips to show one tag. The Jobs list has Show: All / 🔧 Service calls / 🏗 Jobs / projects and a tag picker, and every row shows its kind and tags. In Money → Job Costing → Reports, group by Job tag to compare revenue and margin; a job with two tags counts in both rows.
