Let techs request or issue a PO from the app

Techs ask for parts from the app menu or from the job. You pick who hears about it, whether the office approves or techs can issue the PO, and whether a receipt photo is required. The photo fills out the PO.

In the app: Settings → 🧾 PO Requests (office) · Tech app menu → 🧾 Request a PO5 stepsOpen it in the app →

  1. Step 1: Set it up once

Open Settings → 🧾 PO Requests. Pick The office approves (the tech sends a request and someone here approves it) or Techs can issue POs (the tech gets a PO number right away; set an optional dollar limit, and anything over it becomes a request). Tick the people who should get a text and an email for every tech PO, and leave A photo of the receipt is required on if you want every PO to come back with its receipt.

  2. Step 2: The tech asks from the menu

In the tech app, open the menu (☰) and tap 🧾 Request a PO (it’s also at the top of My Truck). Pick the job, or No job: truck stock / shop, type or pick the supply house, add parts if they know them (optional), and say when they need it. The button says Issue the PO or Send to the office, depending on your setting.

  3. Step 3: Or from inside the job

On a job, tap 🧰 Request parts (PO). The job and customer are already filled in, so the tech only picks the supply house. The same settings apply.

  4. Step 4: Snap the receipt and it fills out the PO

After the PO number shows, the tech taps 📷 Snap the receipt (or later from 📑 My POs in the menu). We read the supply house, receipt number, date, every line, tax and total. Boxes outlined in orange were hard to read, so the tech checks those. Fill out the PO puts the receipt’s lines and costs on the PO, and a line the tech asked for is updated instead of added twice.

  5. Step 5: The office confirms it

The people you picked get a text and an email, and the bell shows it. The receipt waits in Purchase Orders for someone here to confirm it against the PO (see Snap a supply-house receipt onto the job). Nothing posts to your books from the tech app.

Questions about this

Can a tech see our costs?

Only on a receipt they photographed themselves. The rest of the app never shows costs or markup.

What does the limit check against?

The price-book cost of the parts the tech names when they ask. With no parts named, the PO is issued and the receipt shows the real total.

Does a tech PO post to the books?

No. Receiving and billing still happen in Purchase Orders when someone in the office confirms the receipt.
