Step 1: What it is
A protection plan pays for covered repairs on specific equipment, like an HVAC-only or plumbing-only plan. On MyHomeService360 it’s administered and backed by a licensed plan provider, which is the obligor under the contract. Your company is never the obligor or the insurer. We handle enrollment, billing, covered items, claims and reporting.
Step 2: Read this first
Protection plans that pay for repairs can be regulated as service contracts, home warranties or insurance depending on your state. Talk to your attorney before selling. You may need registration, a reserve, or insurance backing.
We don’t give legal advice, and nothing on this page is legal advice.
Step 3: Turning it on (once a provider is available)
In Field → Service Agreements → Settings, pick the states where you’d sell, pick the plan provider, add your own terms if you have any, and tick I’ve reviewed this with my attorney. We keep a record of who acknowledged it and when. Protection plans stay off until you do this, and they’re switched off platform-wide until a licensed provider is in place.
Step 4: How a claim works
You or your customer opens a claim and a claim job is created. Your tech documents the failure. The plan provider approves or denies coverage, and you record its decision and reason. You do the approved work, and the provider pays you at the agreed rate. Per-claim and yearly limits, the waiting period and the service fee come from the plan.
Step 5: The money
You collect the plan payment, keep your commission and send the provider its share. The provider’s share is shown as owed to the provider, not as your revenue, and claim work is billed to the provider.

Questions about this
Can I sell my own warranty instead?
Not through MyHomeService360. Protection plans here are always backed by a licensed plan provider, never by the contractor.
Which states allow this?
Ask your attorney. The rules differ by state, and we don’t decide that for you.
