Step 1: Turn it on
Open Settings → Text Your Receipts and tick Let my team text receipts. The page shows the number to text. It’s our shared Compendium texting number, so there’s nothing to buy, and nothing goes to your customers. If you have the phone system, it’s already on.
Step 2: Check whose phones count
A text only counts when it comes from the cell number on that person’s user profile. The page lists everyone and whether their phone is allowed. Add or fix numbers in Settings → Users & Permissions.
Step 3: Text the receipt
Start the text with Receipt and say what it was for, for example: Receipt O’Reilly, brake pads for the Smith F-150. We text back a link that opens your camera. Snap the receipt and send it.
Our texting number can’t receive pictures, so a photo sent by itself won’t come through. Just text the word Receipt and use the link we send back.
Step 4: Find it in your books
Open Money → Accounting, then Receipts. A receipt that matches a card charge is attached to it. Anything else waits in Review for you to file.

No. Texting receipts is part of the free software.
What if I text from a different phone?
We text back that we couldn’t match the number, and nothing is filed. Add that cell to your user profile and text again.
I work for two companies on the same phone. Which books does it go to?
We ask. You’ll get a text that says “Which company is this receipt for?” and you reply with the number.
How do I stop the texts?
Reply STOP to our number at any time.
